The Kosovo Correctional Service and UNICEF continue to strengthen their cooperation in support of minors in conflict with the law.
In this context, the Director for the Treatment of Prisoners and Minors, Ms. Trëndelina Qorraj, held a working meeting with UNICEF representatives in Kosovo, Mr. Dren Rexha, Social Policy Specialist, and Ms. Feride Dashi, Child Protection Officer.
During the meeting, issues related to the treatment of minors were discussed, with particular focus on those placed at the Educational-Correctional Center in Lipjan. Special attention was given to strengthening educational measures and advancing juvenile justice in line with international standards, with the aim of preventing reoffending and ensuring their successful reintegration into society.
The meeting was held in a spirit of open and constructive cooperation. UNICEF representatives expressed their readiness to continue providing technical support, based on their long-standing experience in this field.
The Kosovo Correctional Service highly appreciated UNICEF’s contribution as an important partner in the reform of juvenile justice over the years, particularly in the development and implementation of best institutional practices.
Both parties agreed that the cooperation will continue further, remaining open to new initiatives aimed at improving the treatment, rehabilitation, and well-being of minors in correctional institutions.
