At the invitation of the Council of Europe, the Kosovo Correctional Service participated in the multilateral meeting on the topic “Strengthening Gender-Sensitive Policies and Practices in the Prisons of Council of Europe Member States”, held in Strasbourg on 12–13 November 2025.

The Kosovo Correctional Service was represented by the Director of the Department for the Treatment of Prisoners and Juveniles, Ms. Trëndelina Qorraj, who presented a paper entitled:

“Gender-Sensitive Reintegration: Best Practices of the Kosovo Correctional Service for Women in Prisons.”

In her presentation, Ms. Qorraj introduced the approaches and practices applied by the Kosovo Correctional Service for the treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of convicted women, as well as the activities carried out at the Correctional Center for Women. She emphasized the importance of personalized programs, psychosocial support, education, vocational training, and other initiatives that contribute to empowering incarcerated women and preparing them for successful reintegration into society.

Participation in this multilateral meeting provided an important opportunity to exchange experiences and best practices with other Council of Europe member states, contributing to further strengthening gender-sensitive standards and policies within correctional institutions in Kosovo.
