The Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Ismail Dibrani, today met with the delegation of the Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), led by Victor Zaharia.

During the meeting, developments and ongoing advancements in the correctional system were discussed, with particular emphasis on the implementation of CPT recommendations and the improvement of standards in the execution of criminal sanctions in the Republic of Kosovo.

Director Dibrani presented the current state of the Kosovo Correctional Service, focusing on the finalization of primary and secondary legislation, the fight against corruption, reforms in rehabilitation programs, the operationalization of the institution for the treatment of persons with special needs, as well as investments in infrastructure.

The meeting reaffirmed the readiness of the Kosovo Correctional Service for continued cooperation with the CPT, with the aim of strengthening transparency, accountability, and respect for the rights of persons deprived of liberty.
