Today, the General Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Ismail Dibrani, and the French Ambassador to Kosovo, Olivier Guerot, opened a training for correctional officers and officers of other security institutions, with a focus on the management of vulnerable prisoners.
This training, supported by the French Embassy, aims to improve professional skills in dealing with special groups of prisoners, emphasizing the importance of security and humane treatment in correctional institutions.
Director Dibrani emphasized the importance of this training for improving standards in line with international practices. He added that, in order to control and manage the spread of radical ideas, the KCS has separated prisoners for terrorism from others, placing them in special institutions such as the High Security Prison and the Dubrava Correctional Center. Specialized units have also been established such as the Extremist Prisoner Management Unit (EPMU), the Intelligence Unit (IU) and the Prisoner Assessment and Classification Unit (PACU).
Ambassador Guerot reconfirmed the support of the Embassy of France for improving the Kosovo correctional system, emphasizing that these trainings contribute to respecting human rights and preparing staff for new challenges.
