A historic step and extraordinary achievement for the Kosovo correctional system: Kosovo Correctional Service (KCS) has been officially accepted as a member of the prestigious European prison network EuroPris.

Today, the Director General of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Mr. Ismail Dibrani, received membership confirmation letter. This decision marks a turning point for the international integration of the Kosovo Correctional Service, reinforcing its position as a modern institution, and committed to European standards in the justice and correctional system.

In his official letter, EuroPris Executive Director, Mr. Gustav Tallving, stated:

“On behalf of Board and Secretariat of EuroPris, it is my pleasure to inform you that Kosovo’s application for membership in EuroPris has been approved. We warmly welcome Kosovo Correctional Service to our respected network of European correctional services, and we look forward to strengthening cooperation, exchanging knowledge and mutual progress in the prison and probation sector”.

This membership offers new opportunities for Kosovo, including also exchanging best practices, enhancing professional capacities and also advancing reforms in Kosovo Correctional Service.

EuroPris is a unique platform that connects prison and probation institutions all around Europe, promotes high standards, transparency and sustainable development. Through this network, Kosovo Correctional Service will contribute to sharing its experiences and lessons learned, while also benefiting from best practices of member countries.

This achievement comes as a result of a hard work and commitment of Kosovo Correctional Service, and also the support of local and international partners. In addition to its membership in EuroPris, Kosovo is also member of ICPA (International Corrections and Prisons Association), reinforcing further its role on the international arena of correctional system.

This is a major step towards justice and Kosovo integration in international structures!
