The Kosovo Correctional Service informs the public that today, at around 13:30, an attempt to smuggle contraband into the Detention Center in Mitrovica was identified. According to initial information, the contraband was thrown from outside and landed within the inner perimeter of the facility.

The area was immediately secured by correctional officers, who carried out a detailed inspection of the yard area. During the inspection, three suspicious packages were located, inside which five mobile phones with cables were found.

The packages were confiscated and documented in accordance with the applicable legal procedures, while the Kosovo Police were notified of the case and the necessary investigative actions were undertaken.

The Kosovo Correctional Service remains committed to strengthening security measures and preventing any attempts to introduce prohibited items into correctional institutions.
