The General Director of the Kosovo Correctional Service, Mr. Ismail Dibrani, participated today in a workshop titled “Treatment and Protection of Marginalized Groups during Deprivation of Liberty,” organized by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), held in Pristina.

Also attending the event were Mr. Arsim Tahiri – General Director of the Kosovo Probation Service, Mr. Christian Böttcher – representative of the German Embassy in Pristina, and Ms. Veronica Eck – Project Manager from IRZ.

The aim of this workshop was to raise awareness of the special protection needs of vulnerable groups – especially those addicted to narcotic substances and persons with mental disorders and illnesses – within the prison system. The focus was on protecting fundamental human rights and ensuring equal access to effective legal protection mechanisms.

The workshop served as a valuable platform for the exchange of experiences among justice system experts, aiming to identify practical ways to improve the coordination of support measures and harmonize existing standards for the treatment of prisoners requiring special protection.

The Kosovo Correctional Service thanks IRZ for organizing this important workshop and for the continued cooperation in raising humane and professional standards within the Kosovo correctional system.
