Today, in close coordination between the Correctional Service of Kosovo and the Basic Court in Prishtina, a court session was held via video link for the first time, marking an important step towards the modernization of the correctional and judicial system.

A prisoner from the Detention Center in Gjilan appeared via video link, while Judge Ms. Fatime Dermaku conducted the session from the premises of the Basic Court in Prishtina.

This method of holding court sessions via video link aims to facilitate the judicial process by reducing the need for physical transportation of prisoners to courts, thereby increasing security and efficiency in procedures.

Advanced audio and video equipment were used to record and register the court sessions. These devices, donated by the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), will help ease the work of the Correctional Service and improve the quality of services in the field of justice.

This is an important step towards modernizing the correctional and justice system in the country, contributing to increased security during judicial procedures and improving prisoners’ access to judicial processes in a more efficient and secure manner.
