The Women Association of the Kosovo Correctional Service, with the support of OSBE Mission, organized a roundtable to discuss experiences and specific needs of women in Correctional Service.

Representatives from countries in the region, international organizations and representatives of the Security Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo participated in this event. Among those present were the Minister of Justice, Mrs. Albulena Haxhiu, and the Director of the KCS, Mr. Ismail Dibrani.

Mrs. Haxhiu praised the 22% representation of women in this institution and called for continued efforts towards achieving gender equality. She encouraged women to pursue leadership roles, highlighting the key role of the Association of Women in the Correctional Service in this process.

During the roundtable there were discussed different topics that are related to women in security sector, challenges that they face and how to overcome them. The meeting was highly appreciated from those present, who thanked the Association for organizing this meeting and they pledged that such meetings should be held more often in order to address issues affecting these areas.

The association continues to be committed to empowering women within the KCS and collaborating with local and international partners.
