Mitrovica Detention Center

General Description

Mitrovica Detention Centre was built in 1964. After the war until  2000, this institution has been under the administration of the French KFOR. In 2000 the competences were transferred from KFOR to PMD  and the UNMIK Police. On 27 September 2005 the competences s were transferred from international staff to national managers. In Detention Center in Mitrovica are  accepted the detainees and sentenced persons  under 20 years sentence  of different nationalities, the prisoners are placed  on two floors and the capacity of the institution is 54 inmates. Detention Center offers 3 regimes for prisoners at basic, standard, advanced, and employment opportunities in the kitchen, cleaning and other ancillary work.
